Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will join Operation HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant and Entertainment Icon and multi Grammy Award winner Quincy Jones to unveil the Banking on Our Future, Quincy Jones Celebrity Edition on April 24, during the 20th Anniversary HOPE Opportunity Bus Tour.
Jones will officially present the revolutionary financial literacy curriculum based on his life lessons around financial literacy to Principal Steve Venz at the Quincy Jones Elementary School.
The curriculum unveiling will be part of the bus tour celebration and serve to mark April as Financial Literacy Month for the school. Set to begin at 8:30, the tour will commemorate 20 years of inspiring leadership and action from a diverse group of local leaders representing local government, private sector corporations, as well as community and faith based organizations. This collective effort effort has led to over $1 billion invested in and around South Los Angeles over the past 20 years.
The ultimate goal of the HOPE 20th Anniversary Opportunity Bus Tour is to tell the story of bottom up community success by offering a new perspective of South Los Angeles and a more balanced view of a diverse community on the move, “from chaos to community,” along with the many inspiring success stories that give the community it’s authentic voice.
Among the organizations that have partnered with Operation HOPE for the “Opportunity Bus Tour” include Toyota, Union Bank and Wells Fargo.
